Dr Angela Misra
Deputy Chief Executive Officer
Dr Angela Misra is a practising medical Doctor, having graduated with MBBS BSc (Cardiovascular Sciences) from Imperial College London (2012), a member of the Board of trustees at Alamiyah Educational Foundation, an Interventions Consultant and Business Manager at The Unity Initiative (TUI).
TUI is a specialist Intervention Consultancy based in the UK, established in 2009. TUI has 3 main domains of work: one-to-one male and female Terrorist Act (TACT) offender rehabilitation; delivering front-line staff training programs for Prison, Probation and Police staff; and community interventions tackling the politicized absolutist mindset.
Dr Misra co-founded The Unity Initiative whilst at Imperial College London and is the only female TACT offender Intervention Consultants in the country with practical experience at the highest level. Due to the direct, critical and continuing nature of the work being carried out at The Unity Initiative, Dr Misra ensures this empirical data undergoes real-time analysis and that the strategies, educational programs and intellectual technology employed at The Unity Initiative remain cutting-edge, practical and relevant. She is therefore responsible for the design, production and delivery of the bespoke educational programs, workshops and lectures that The Unity Initiative delivers to front-line staff.
The foundation of Dr Misra practical experience derives from having worked at the grassroots tackling issues such as physical/emotional/sexual abuse, honor violence, domestic abuse, violent extremism, the absolutist mindset and hate crimes amongst others. Dr Misra has also worked intensively evaluating the reactionary sub-cultures present within the various educational spheres; concentrating specifically on the tertiary environment.
Dr Misra believes Education within the Institutional, community and family environment is a crucial factor that underpins the majority of social issues currently afflicting communities. She believes that this field needs further holistic and authentic development both in terms of legitimacy and being relevant within the world’s current religious and political climate.
